The UAE is on the path of becoming a circular economy from linear economy as last year it started a national drive, ‘UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative’ which aims net zero emissions by the year 2050. If UAE successfully achieves its aim, it will become the first country from Middle East and first North African country to do so.
In the GITEX GLOBAL 2023, Faisal Ali Rashid, Senior Director, Energy Demand Side Management, UAE’s Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, talked about the process and benefits of completing this mission. Faisal Ali Rashid stated that in order to facilitate the transition smoother from linear to circular economy, a Circular Economic Committee has been set up which comprises of public and private sector players and it not only encourages investments in circularity but also increases the speed of adopting the circular economy practices.
The GITEX GLOBAL provides a big platform for public-private partnerships as more than 250 government companies are looking for partners to collaborate on digital government and e-government projects. The market for smart government projects were $30 billion in 2022 and it is estimated to grow to $110 billion by the year 2029 and as per the estimate, this market will grow 21 percent annually.
UAE’s net zero emission drive is something which every country should look for.
